One of the things the Union Hill Fire Department is most proud of is our Explorer Post. Our Explorers are basically junior Firefighters. They participate in our weekly drill and are allowed to come and help the Firefighters on a call once they have proven that they are qualified enough to do so. Many of the Firefighters at Union Hill today were once a part of either the Union Hill Explorer post or another Explorer post. In the past three years 5 of our Explorers have moved up to Firefighter status and have become interior Firefighters in the Union Hill Fire Department. If you wish to join the UHFD Explorer Post you must be at least 14 years of age and have completed the 8th Grade. You must also live in or near the Union Hill Fire District. The Union Hill Explorer Post members completed CPR and First Aid training under the direction on training instructor Paula Karnisky during the month of November. When the explorers reach the age of 16 years they are eligible to do a ride along on the ambulances with senior medics. Congratulations to all.
