Union Hill held its annual banquet at Eagle Vale and honored department members who in the past year have gone above and beyond the call of service to their community:
Kirk Willis was honored as firefighter of the year for 2010, for his outstanding service as Deputy Chief. A member since 2003, Kirk currently serves as a captain. Kirk was Deputy Chief - Fire for the previous two years. During that time he coordinated department training, including recruit training and managed the department maintenance functions.
Ed Collins was recognized in 2010 as ambulance person of the year. Having joined our department in 2008, Ed is also firefighter with the Lincoln Fire Department, and volunteers on our ambulance. Ed not only pulls weekly shifts, but covers numerous 2nd calls, and particpates in many department functions. Ed was one of the top responders for ambulance calls and is a dedicated worker for his community.
Gary Giudice was recognized with the lifetime achievement award for 2010. For over 40 years, Gary Giudice has given up a night of his life to serve others on the Union Hill Ambulance. Gary has answered hundreds of calls, while working a full time career with the City of Rochester. Recently retired, Gary has had time to spend with family and friends and time to reflect on his years of service to his community. Gary thanked those in the department, and remarked how he "got more than he gave" for a lifetime of service to his community.
